There are similarities between the days of creation, the Exodus, the days of Holy Week, and the earth's millennia as determined through genealogy as calculated by the likes of Ussher. By looking at the patterns across creation, the Exodus, the days of Holy Week, and the millennia, we can see Peter was looking at a literal interpretation in 2 Peter 3:8.
