REVIEWS FOR VOLUME 1
Some of the many five star reviews for the first volume of The Station Road Sewing Circle.
I loved this book from beginning till end. It really gave me a sense of Pembroke in the 1950s and how all the women spent their time sorting out each other's business. I laughed out loud at quite a lot of it.Once you read this, you'll want someone else to read it too. As they say, 'once you hear good news, pass it on'.In a dark world, this book lifts the spirits and makes you smile.
A beautifully crafted collection of short stories by a genuine Welshman. Leaving you with a 'feel good factor'. I look forward to learning more about these lovely thirteen women.
A really enjoyable read, with good believable characters, which you get to know through their own individual stories. The author, makes you feel you are part of the hallowed surroundings of the sewing circle, without the need to pick up a needle! It made me want to keep on turning the pages to read just one more story! I hope there is a second book.
I loved these stories, they were light hearted and full of wonderful Welsh humour. I'd recommend it to anyone who needs to escape to a simpler age.
Settle down with plenty of tea and cake and let these stories wash over you. A lovely group of women chatting over their needlework and solving the town's problems without upsetting anyone. Just the right side of 'nosy' I reckon!
