Meet seventeen year old Ruth Turner, who comes from an average, middle class family, consisting of her parents and fifteen year old sister Susan. The Turner family lives in Salem, Oregon. While traveling on I-84 up the Columbia River to visit her uncle in Boardman, Oregon, Ruth suddenly has an urge to stop at the replica of Stonehenge, which is located across the bridge from Biggs, Oregon in a small place called Maryhill, Washington. The Stonehenge memorial was built and dedicated to the soldiers from Klickitat County who died in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam wars. This meeting is more than chance, as Burton, a soldier who passed during WWII has been waiting decades for this very moment. Influenced by the spirit of her great, great grandmother, Ruth's urge to stop was too much for her to resist. While briefly exploring Stonehenge, Ruth touches one of the markers embedded in one of the cement pillars, stating the name of a soldier being honored. It is there that the chain of events begins to unfold, which lead Ruth to discover how timeless true love really is. Pam Deremer, the author, was born in Elmhurst, Illinois and has spent most of her life on the West coast. After a long and successful career as a nurse, Pam sustained a head injury while working. Perhaps as a result of the injury, she has become a prolific writer. She feels that in spite of obstacles, your life is what you make it.
