Harold Brighouse was an English playwright from the Manchester school of drama. His more than seventy plays were often set in his native Lancashire. They use humor to show the attitudes and character of the working and trading people. Hobson's Choice is a four-act comedy. Willie Mossop was a talented shoemaker. Henry Horatio Hobson was his boss. Willlie was persuaded to marry the almost spinster daughter of Hodson. Maggie is a talented salesperson and Willie a gifted shoemaker.
