World Battlefield Museums Forum is a publication of the scientific conference under the same title, which took place at the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk on September 4-6, 2018. The book collects lectures of museologists from various museum institutions from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, China, United States and other countries. Post-conference articles in a multilateral way present problems faced by cultural institutions which are also places of memory – e.g. ways of building dialogue between the present and the past, or strengthening national identity through history. In addition to the global perspective, the publication also includes texts focusing on selected local activities – including archaeological work conducted on Westerplatte. The volume is additionally enriched with photo material and a transcript of the discussion between museologists.
