He tries to sustain their love, although he finds their relation has been compromised through deceit, lies, and debauchery. Still it is a story the author strives to tell; it's thought to be attainable yet only if they can still come together in synergy to achieve a oneness worth saving. However, extraneous variables prove too much, especially when he learns he's trying to save someone that doesn't want to be saved.
