300 Wasted Years - Charles Edward Scheideman

300 Wasted Years - Charles Edward Scheideman

This is Charles Edward Scheideman's fourth book, all of which grew from his years in the RCMP and the experiences of a lifetime. 300 Wasted Years is about the natives of Canada, and to some extent, North America. Charles grew up on the Canadian prairie, in close proximity to a large population of natives. This gave him knowledge of these people far beyond the average person. His experiences with natives were enhanced by his policing career, which involved him with more than twenty reserve locations. His career took his family to seven locations in British Columbia. On retirement, he moved to the Victoria area, where he and his wife Patricia live today. Charles learned a lot from the native tragedies he was involved in as a policeman over his twenty-seven years on the force. The most startling of the different attitudes and cultures among the majority of natives, was the lesser value they placed on life itself. He was also privy to their sense of humour. The author's previous books are Policing the Fringe, Tragedy on Jackass Mountain, and When Grampa Was A Mountie. The success of these encouraged him to write this book, which departs from the format and subjects of the first three. The main theme in this book focuses on the tragic existence these people have lived over the past 300 years. Raised on an Alberta farm, Charles Edward Scheideman hopes his book sheds light on the plight of natives. "False information is being spread about these early people through our government and media and in our schools. Hopefully this book will cause some re-thinking of these embellishments, half-truths, and fabrications." Publisher's website: http://sbprabooks.com/CharlesEdwardScheideman
