On June 13, 2008, Rachel at the age of 67, came down with a rare autoimmune disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome that affects the nervous system and if not diagnosed early, usually results in totally paralyzing its victims. This usually occurs very unexpectedly and disrupts a person's life without warning. She encountered various experiences in the two hospitals and convalescent home she was placed in. Some were devastating and some were uplifting. Her story takes you into a world where only those that have been completely paralyzed and helpless ever experience. She writes step by step on how she was able to cope with each phase of her rare and terrifying illness.
